I can not tell you how many young recent grads are stressed seeing volumes of patients in a fast paced work place to the tune of 25 to 40 or more patients in a day. The question to ask yourself is how long you will be able to continue that pace and whether that is a satisfiying way for you to practice. Is a fast paced patient schedule what your vision of practice would be? If not, you should consider practice a different way, where you determine the time spent with each patient, you build the patient-doctor relationships, you determine your work days, you determine your time off, you build a staff who love and respect you. That mode of practice is ownership of a Private Optoemetry Practice.
In almost all other modes of practice you are creating value for a corporation, for another OD or OMD, not for yourself. At the end of the day, ask yourself, how much of your pay for the day, divided by the number of patients you saw for the day is equal to what number? Is that all...
