We are a fast-paced office looking for a full time or part time Optometrist to provide routine vision care and prescribe and dispense corrective contact lenses. We have been in the Ophthalmology business for over 50 years and have treated many of our patients and their families for generations in our Santa Monica Private Practice office. We have an optical shop and optician on site. We do not take HMO insurance but do take a variety of PPO insurance.

Optometrist Job Responsibilities:
• Conduct comprehensive eye exams using optometric equipment and general diagnostic interpretation
• Diagnose and treat ocular disease.
• Prescribe eyeglasses, contact lenses, and other vision aids.
• Recommend appropriate patient follow-up and care options.
• Answer questions and provide advice to patients regarding vision and optical issues.
• Deliver outstanding customer service through all patient interactions.
• Direct staff and assist in the development of the overall practice.

Optometrist Qualifications/Skills:
• Applied understanding of general principles of optometry and best practices for the diagnosis and treatment of eye-related disorders and conditions
• Familiar with diagnostic equipment such as Optos, OCT, Visual Fields, and Auto Refract Topography
• Extensive background in contact lens fittings. Scleral lens fittings and experience with keratoconus patients is a plus
• Strong interpersonal skills and ability to relate to patients of diverse backgrounds
• Excellent customer service skills
• Ability to maintain patient confidentiality
• General computer proficiency
• Demonstrated problem solving skills and multitasking ability

Education and Experience Requirements:
• Doctor of Optometry (OD) degree from an accredited optometry program
• Active California Optometry license
• Two-plus years of optometrist experience preferred
