Our mission at Foresight Eyecare is to promote long-term well being of our patients' eyes, providing comprehensive eye health care and optical solutions through doctor's recommendations and quality eyewear.
Dr. Dianna Leong has practiced optometry in Calgary for 20 years, graduating from the University of Waterloo in 1994. Dr. Leong is committed to preventative eye care, using leading edge developments. She continues to hone her skills with volunteer activities such as speaking at local seminars for schools, physicians, and community seniors groups on various eye care topics. Currently she is on the national team for writing exam questions for the Canadian Optometry Licencing exams. A special interest in diabetes also keeps her active on Optometry's national diabetes committee, promoting awareness and education on diabetes prevention and nutrition. She was president of the Calgary Society of Optometrists, which offers education and collaboration among optometrists and other health care professionals.
During her studies, Dr. Hugh completed internships at the Tyndall Air Force Base in Florida and the Mayo Clinic in Arizona, giving her a range of experiences in ocular disease and full-scope optometry. She also had the opportunity to participate in an eye care mission to Peru. Most recently, she has been volunteering with the Canadian National Institute for the Blind (CNIB) by offering direct support to people with vision loss. In addition, she took part in an on-going educational project with the CNIB that involved counselling patients on low-vision services at a retinal clinic. She also enjoys going to elementary schools to talk to kids about the importance of eye health, which she has done with Foresight Eyecare as part of the Eye See Eye Learn program.
