Director of Senior Mental Health Opening
The Senior Mental Health Department is part of a 128 bed -acute hospital located in the East of San Gabriel Valley, California.
The Director of psychiatric nursing services must be a registered nurse who has a Master's degree in psychiatric and mental health nursing, or its equivalent, from a school of nursing accredited by the National League of Nursing, or be qualified by education and experience in the care for the mentally ill.
Skills:
The Director must demonstrate competence to participate in interdisciplinary formulation of individual treatment plans; to give skilled nursing care and therapy; and to direct, monitor, and evaluate the nursing care furnished.
This position reports to the Chief Nursing Officer.
A Master's degree in psychiatric/ mental health nursing OR
RN, license with related Master's such as psychology or nursing education, with 2 years of psychiatric inpatient nursing OR
BSN, ADN, or diploma in nursing with at least 2 years of psychiatric inpatient nursing and documented educational programs focused on psychiatric nursing, clinical, consultation/supervision from a Master's prepared psychiatric nurse program.
Duties:
a) Supervision of paraprofessional staff;
b) Assessment, planning of psychiatric nursing care of patients;
c) Medical teaching;
d) Management of therapeutic milieus;
e) Provision of mandatory and voluntary in-service training of specialized treatments and therapies, such as individual group and family therapies, that require the expertise of the professional psychiatric nurse.
