A private Ophthalmology practice with multi-location offices in San Francisco is seeking a full-time experienced Optometrist with strong clinical and diagnostics experience. Ideal candidate would be residency-trained, licensed OD with a minimum of 2 years experience.
Essential functions and Responsibilities:
- Perform complete vision exams as needed on scheduled patients
- Provide refractive services for patients as needed in a manner and at a rate that maintains both the physician’s schedule and the highest standard of quality and patient care.
- Provide muscle balance, prism work and other specialized optometric services as needed by our patients
- Provide patient education about products and materials available in our optical dispensary to encourage high utilization by our patients
- Provide patient education about services provided through this office: Dry eye, Lasik, Cataracts, Glaucoma, Aesthetics and others.
- Carefully document services provided, glasses and contact lens prescriptions and recommendations to patients
- Provide contact lens services required by patients in the practice, including contact lens fittings, refits, pick-ups and replacements
- code within our EMR to charge for all goods and services provided
- Supervise insertion and removal training of contact lens patients
- Supervise the ordering, inventory and charges for contact lens services
- Supervise recalls for contact lens patients
- Perform glasses checks for patients having difficulty with new glasses and assist in optical as needed.
- Teach refraction, pupil checks, retinoscopy, contact lens care, lensometry, keratometry and applanation tonometry to the clinical assistants, and also perform these duties as needed to maximize patient flow.
- Care and maintenance of office equipment
- Handle patient phone calls regarding glasses and contact lenses as needed
- Perform other duties as needed by the Clinic Manager to provide the highest level of ophthalmic care to each of our patients
Qualifications:
Graduate of accredited school of optometry with valid license to practice optometry in the state of California--Residency trained, preferred. Should have experience providing refractive and contact lens services with a high standard of accuracy. Must have excellent communication skills, professional attitude and appearance, and a desire to serve patients with care.
