We evaluate, test and review medical products and supplements that are used professionally and for the general public. We also create clinical and medical resources, primarily for professional consumption.
Our mission is to bridge the gap between advanced clinical and scientific knowledge and information that clinical practitioners at all levels and the general public can easily understand.
One example is in the field of prenatal vitamins. For women who are concerned about their pregnancy, choosing the best prenatal vitamins is a vital task. As clinicians, it is important to present another viewpoint on the quality of particular prenatal vitamins from a scientific viewpoint to help people in their prenatal vitamin purchasing decisions.More commercial products with health implications are also in our interest. Probiotic supplements have become used widely and are touted as a way to restore the intestinal flora after being decimated by toxins in the food or heavy use of antibiotics. Like most products, there are wide variations in quality in probiotics and the best probiotic supplements are quite different from the generic versions available at every corner drugstore. Connecting the scientific data with the product can help bring some clarity to this type of question. In a related example, we became interested in specialized dietary oils such as MCT oils while working clinically. When newer products like these are being used in the market, we feel obliged to help review and educate potential users on the pros and cons of the various
MCT oil products out there.
Reviewing products like MCT oils is never a precise science but, in clinical experience, we perceive a better understanding from patients that we work with as far as how supplements may affect their health and interact with traditional medications that they may be using at the time.
